Hi, I'm Lucas.
I grew up in Middleton and I'm self-taught. I started out making short films in high school, back when this was Lucas K Films. In October 2014 I bought a used Nikon so I could photograph the fall color, and I never really stopped. The trees, my cat, the Christmas tree: anything that held still long enough.
Twelve years later I'm still chasing the same thing. Light coming through the leaves. Long golden hours. The few minutes when a place you know looks like nobody's seen it before. Most of the time that just means getting up early and waiting.
Madison is home, and the subject I come back to most. But I'll drive a long way for an eclipse, an aurora forecast or a peak-color weekend.
I also build things for the web. I studied web development at Madison College, and I designed and built this site myself.

Passed the FAA Part 107 exam and took to the air.
